Mount your iPad from the ceiling

I ran across this product and it seems bit strange. Like in the upside-down parallel universe in Stranger Things, the iPad is mounted on the ceiling via a pole with a magnetic attachment.

Surely there is a need for better mounts for one’s cell phone, iPad or another table during Facetime calls but does this mount make sense? Maybe.

The SkyFloat Overhead Magnetic Ceiling Mount holds your phone or tablet in mid-Air in front of you. It includes four metal plates that can be installed over the bed, in the kitchen, living room or wherever and can be used for iPhones, iPads, Samsung Galaxy, Kindle, eBook reader, and other small electronics. It rotates 360 degrees.

The pole attaches with a magnet and can be store away when not in use and it can expand from 1.5 ft to as long as 6.5 ft from the ceiling. The telescopic are is easily adjustable,to fit your most comfortable viewing position and you can tilt your phone or tablet to the perfect viewing angle.

At first, it seemed a bit strange but then I started to think about the uses it might just make sense in certain applications. For example, laying in bed. There is never a good way to hold a phone or tablet in bed and especially for someone bedridden this might be good. Although one does have to be able to maneuver the pole up to the magnetic base plate.

Another good application would be to hold a GoPro camera over one of my pinball machines for recording video. It’s always a challenge to mound a camera to shoot down on a large object.
