Tony & Chelsea Northrup predicted the future and design a $500 full frame camera that smartphone users will love

This is a great vlog discussion from Tony & Chelsea Northrup who discuss the future of the camera industry, the challenges camera manufacturers have in competing with smartphones, the death of the $500 point and shoot camera market and the possibilities of creating an entry level camera with all of the great user friendly features of a smartphone.

The future of a major player such as Canon much just be in creating a path from entry level, easy to use full frame camera. I know I’d buy one for the budding photographers in my household.

Take my wife for example. She loves using her iPhone and Snapseed to create image for Facebook and Instagram. I got her a Sony RX100 III for vacation photos but she still processes the images through her iPad and mainly uses the results for social media.

I’d love to be able to get her a camera that would allow her to grab lenses out of my collection of Canon glass. A $500, easy to use, smartphone style controlled camera that uses the same mount as my full frame Canon lenses would be great.
