Sea Shell Stage | Hampton Beach New Hampshire

Live music has been part of the Hampton Beach experience since the 1920s. Various bandstands have been erected across from the Casino Building on Hampton Beach through the years for concerts, outside dancing and evening entertainment. A brand new Sea Shell Bandstand was build at Hampton Beach in 2011.

The police and comfort station (at center), built in 1921. The area between the station and the bandstand was used for concert seating and other entertainment activities. The bandstand, c. 1950s. Speakers were added to the roof of the bandstand by 1936. In 1963, it was replaced by today’s “Seashell” building.

The new complex roughly incorporates a similar overall “footprint” of the old one that stood on the spot for 48 years, with the main stage at the center, with smaller pavilion buildings that house state park and visitor service functions north and south of the main building.

The main stage is be located at the center of the main building with an adjacent seating area for 750 people.
