Many New Yorkers know of Clinton, Connecticut only from the outlet stores, Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets, along Interstate 95. But just off the highway is a cute little Long Island Sound oceanfront town with a few surprises.

There is a winery, if you can believe it. Chamard Vineyards serves an excellent lunch and dinner as well as wine tastings.

If your looking for an on the water spot for a lobster roll, boiled lobster dinner or some fried seafood, you can’t beat the Lobster Landing in Clinton Harbor among all the marinas. Best lobster roll anywhere.

Clinton Antiques Center provides some fun and exploring for those looking for something unique, different, old and perhaps a bit dusty and rusty.

Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale in Madison (more take out) or Westbrook (more inside) is legendary for its fresh seafood and old carousel ride at the Madison location.

Taste of China serves up “not your average Chinese food”. I think it’s one of the best Chinese restaurants in New England. Seriously, and I’ve been to Chinese places from Maine to Boston to New York. More flavorful and imaginative than your average Chinese take out place. Extensive beer menu.
