Removing Snow from Solar Panels, Metal Roofs and Low Pitch Roofs

After we got 23 inches of wet snow in a single storm this December I decided I needed to up my snow removal game. We have a metal roof, solar panels, and a low pitch. The snow will eventually inch its way off at a glacial pace. But if want the snow off faster the only options are a snow rake but that can be tough on the arms trying to pull 23 inches of heavy snow from the grip of the roof.

Spending a bit more money and you can help SLIDE the snow off with one of these snow roof “rakes” by Avalanche! – this method is more like a cut-and-slide method. The rake is pushed into the snow and the snow ends up sliding down the slippery material – much slipperier than your actual roof.
