Pinball Restoration Project: Instruction Score Cards

Top: Marco Specialties version. Bottom: The original yellowed 1976 score card.

I’ve been working on the restoration of a 1976 Bally Hang Glider EM pinball machine. https://www.dogfordstudios.com/pinball-restore-project-hang-glider/

Placing an order with Marco Specialties, I tossed a $4 reproduction instruction score card set in my cart. https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/M-1508-61

The above photo shows what I got – a crappy attempt at a reproduction. At least it was printed on plastic-coated paper but in no way does it match the originals – wrong font, wrong justification.

I ended up scanning in the originals and fixing them up in Photoshop – changing the mode to black and white and dropping down the yellow slider to remove all the discoloring.

You can also find scans of old pinball and vending machine paper online. I suggest looking around before buying overpriced crap from a certain vendor.
