No Heat. Furnace Idle. Ecobee Thermostat

Problem: No heat. Furnace says “Idle”

Manual: https://www.theacoutlet.com/documents/Installation-Guide-Goodman-GM9S9-GC9S9.pdf

  • Checked air filter.
  • Checked circuit breakers.
  • Checked fuse.

Turns out the problem was with an Ecobee setting?

UPDATE: Now it seems like one of the Ecobee’s is actually bad – keeps resetting.

What ended up fixing my issue had nothing to do with my furnace or wiring. My solution was with the settings inside the ecobee. After you set up the ecobee, you need to go through an equipment setup to confirm the correct wiring and equipment is linked to the ecobee. One of those settings is the control for the fan, the default setting is for the ecobee to control the fan for energy efficiency. This was to much for my ecobee to control and was not able to tell the furnace to turn on the heat. After switching the fan control to the furnace, my heat kick on just as it should.

Main Menu > Settings> Installation Settings > Equipment > Furnace > Fan Control in Heat Mode > HVAC

Note: Wait 30 minutes for the heat to kick on.

We tried it and it worked!
