Installing Yoppsicle Socket Free LED Sticks on my Gottlieb Jumping Jack

My Gottlieb Jumping Jack pinball machine project has a lot of rusty old light sockets. Amazingly I got most of them to work by cleaning and soldering connections but the row on the light bar that match the drop targets were still flaky so I decided to try Yoppsicle Socket Free LED Sticks.

THE replacement for tired old pinball sockets. If you want something that will last for years flicker-free, this is it.

Yoppsicle

Yoppscles are LEDs mounted on a small circuit board. The newest version even includes resistors mounted on the board to remove flicker that often happens with LEDs on EM pinball machines.

The original drop target lights are connected via this metal light bar. A number of these sockets were flaky.
Here is the light bar removed. You might notice the solder added to try to improve the reliability of the old rusty light sockets.
Yoppsicle Socket Free LED Sticks are sold on “sheets” of 50. You can get cool white or warm white.
The common ground is attached to the “-” end. The control is attacted to the “+”. They take solder very well. I put a blob of solder on the contacts and then melted the wires on to the blobs.
I numbered the boards as I went along, just to make sure I didn’t get any of the drop targets mixed up.
After the LED boards are installed. Very clean and less cluttered! I used screws but you can attach them with super glue.
