Fossil Fuel Groups Spread False Information About Wind Turbines and Whales

There are two groups aligned against green energy producing wind turbines – those who think they will spoil the view and the fossil fuel industry who wants to keep putting planet killing carbon in our atmosphere. There is NO LINK between wind turbines and whale deaths.

There is no evidence to their claims but warming oceans due to air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels is warming the oceans and killing off marine wildlife from coral to whales. Ironic isn’t it? Off shore wind turbines which can offset millions of tons of carbon from our air are the target of these pro-fossil fuel advocates whose goal is to extract, process and burn more fossil fuels which contribute to climate change.

If it’s likely not offshore wind development, what’s driving this spike in whale deaths?
There’s no one answer, but experts have some theories. One is that whales may be following prey into waters with more boat traffic, Damon-Randall says.
Damon-Randall says another reason might be climate change. In response to warming oceans, “we are seeing populations move around and go into areas that they haven’t historically been in,” she says.
There may be more of some whales than there were before. Local humpbacks in particular are no longer considered endangered because of their population growth. More whales can mean more vessel strikes.
