The classic Volkswagen Beetle is such an World icon. First designed and manufactured as “the people’s car” it was an inexpensive vehicle for the masses to take advantage of the new highway systems being built in Nazi Germany.

Automotive engineer and founder of the Porsche car company,  Ferdinand Porsche was the lead engineer on the project, tasked by Adolph Hitler to bring out a cheap car that could be mass produced.

Now 21 million cars later, the Beetle is the longest running and most manufactured car of a single platform ever made.
