What kid didn’t dream of a TV the size of a sheet of plywood on their bedroom wall for cartoons and video games?
It took 50 years to get from a whooping 19 inch CRT to modern flat screen LED televisions in amazing sizes – no longer is 55 inch the standard but 65 inch TVs are now showing up in secondary rooms like bedrooms and 85 inch TVs are becoming the norm in the main living rooms.
But my wife and I had a jaw dropping experience when flipping through a Black Friday flyer and spotted a 100 inch TV for $1,500. What a game changer. A 100 inch TV is large enough to walk into the movie or TV show. Your favorite movie stars are now 1:1 lifesize in your living room!
The amazing thing with these TVs is that when the factories ramp up to produce these sizes in quantity, the prices drop dramatically. What was $30K a few years ago could be less than $3,000 today.
Just the thought of a 100 inch TV makes me smile. Just thinking of casually walking someone down to the home theater room and watching their expression when they see this beast!

I zeroed in on Hisense as a brand (TCL is similar) which provides the most bang for the buck. You could easily spend double for a LG, Samsung or Sony OLED tv which will have better contrast and earth shattering color but it will cost you dearly.

We are most likely going to pull the trigger on the Mini-LED variant for its superior backlight control and speed for action, motion and gaming. Also the Google Smart TV feature is better than Fire for streaming although we’ll end up by passing it anyway using our Nvidia Shield Pro and Plex for most of our media watching.
We don’t really care about built in sound as we’ll be pumping the sound through our Onkyo 9.2 Atmos AVR set up, Panasonic 4K disc player and Polk Signature Elite speakers.
But wait! A last minute contender might pull into the lead. A slightly smaller – 98 inch TCL set with better contrast and halo control and a few hundred dollars less.
