With the popularity of the TV series “Yellowstone” about the Dutton family ranch and those who want to take it from the Dutton clan, the Bozeman area has become a popular destination recently but it’s been growing at rapid clip over the past few decades.
Californians fleeing the high real estate prices, remote workers, tourists and those seeking an outdoor lifestyle all seem to be headed to the same place – Bozeman.
Although the skyrocketing real estate and rental prices seem to be leveling off recently, you can see the expanding population in the constant expansion of the airport, the expanding shopping areas and new housing taking over farms on the outskirts of town.
The downtown main street and historic areas still feel, well, historic but there are many new hotels, apartment building and the retail has changed from hardware stores and cowboy boots to upscale wine bars and art galleries.
The classic cowboy bars like the Rockin’ R and The Crystal remain but they are joined by Ted Turner’s steakhouse “Ted’s” and the old freight house turned into The Montana Ale Works.

This college town has no shortage of breweries, tap rooms, cideries, and cocktail lounges as well as steakhouses, Italian and even Korean restaurants.
On a swinging Thursday night the Ellen theater will be showing a classic movie such as “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” or “A River Runs Through It” while the streets are bussling with people in front of one of the cowboy bars, chop house or hanging off the back of a old ranch pick up.
Traveling down the wide main street, you might see a Porsche, Ferrari, a late-model Bronco, a camper van, or a ranch truck hauling a cattle trailer.
