Burlington is the largest city in the state of Vermont and the county seat of Chittenden County, Vermont, in the United States. It lies 45 miles (72 km) south of the Canada-United States (Quebec-Vermont) border and 94 miles (151 km) south of Montreal. Burlington is the least populous city in the United States to be the largest city within a state. The city population was 42,211 according to a 2014 US Census Estimate.[8] The municipality is the heart of the Burlington metropolitan area.

A regional “college town”, Burlington is home to the state’s flagship land-grant public university, the University of Vermont, as well as two small private colleges, Burlington College and Champlain College. In early 2015, Burlington became the first city in the US to run completely on renewable energy.[9] The state’s largest hospital, the University of Vermont Medical Center, is located within the city limits. Vermont’s largest airport, the Burlington International Airport, is situated in the adjacent suburb of South Burlington, although it is owned by the city of Burlington.

Describe Burlington: “The city is very arts-friendly—all kinds of art, from gallery art and public sculptures and murals to music and other performing arts. It is also home to a very eclectic mix of architectural styles. By “crunchy,” I mean it tends to be a very environmentally aware and politically liberal atmosphere, but also because we have a fair amount of hippies here. And finally “easy” because I find it a very easy city to explore or live in. It’s just big enough that you can find everything here that you need, and there’s plenty to do, but it’s also small enough that it’s easy to get around, whether on foot, or by bicycle, public transportation or car. It’s a very livable city and not at all intimidating to visitors.” – Runaway to Juno http://runawayjuno.com/
